This is a layout updating regarding a point motor that was just recently fitted. This was my first time using the non extended pin version. It does take a considerable amount of extra time to fit as opposed the the extended pin but the results are well worth it. Both ways work reliably and have there ups and downs.

The coal stage has progressed slowly but the main scenery that has been complete so far is this....

Basically it is just a large portion of country farmland and grass.

Upcoming post... This weekend I will talk about my abandoned coal stage and river project which I am in the process of completing. I will have some pictures on the way soon. So far I have put in 2 cuttings that are yet to be scenicked.
 
Seeing as I have to start somewhere I thought I'd start by talking about the layout and how I run it. The layout is based on the Central West area of NSW. NCE DCC Powercab System is what is used to control it. It consists of a Single mainline with double branchlines. Code 100 PECO Streamline Flexi and 24 Inch curves. I have a trackplan pictured below. The layout is designed for exhibition running although it will take at least 3 years to make it exhibit-able. I have 4 NSW Locomotives so far and am venturing into getting a NSW Tuscan 44 Trainorama. I have so far:-
NSW Pacific National NR52 DCC Fitted (weathered) (Lenz Decoder) Austrains Mk2
NSW Southern Spririt NR85 DCC Fitted (Lenz Decoder) Austrains Mk2
NSW National Rail Charcoal DL50 (DCC Fitted) (NCE D13SR)
National EL Class CFCLA EL51 (DCC Fitted) (TCS DP2X)
NSW 4401 Tuscan Weathered (DCC TCS DP2X)

Now I will talk about how it will run at exhibitions and running sessions. 
A container freight train hauled by either one of the NRs or double headed NRs will be ran on the mainline with 2 rakes of Auscision Flat Skeletals with Containers.
A coal train with either DL or EL or Both will run on both inner and outer. It will run around and then wait for the clear road and then it will move onto the mainline and return behind the backdrops.
Amongst all this will be a heritage tour operated train, 4401 with 3 RUB cars. It will be continuesly running tours around the layout, mainline, and both branchlines. Majority of it will be spent shunting at the station though. It will bring the train into the station, detach from the train, run into the loco turnback road, wait for the points to switch and run back to the other end of the train ready to run back behind the backdrop and onto the mainline for another tour. 

Now onto the features that have been put into the layout, there are feeder power pickup wires evenly distributed throughout the whole layout, this ensures smooth running and no stalling. Since part of the loco turnback goes behind the backdrop i have installed an isolated section. The loco will run behind the back board and since there is no buffer stop I have just isolated that section of track. So the loco can run as far onto that track until all the wheels have left the previous piece of track that was powered. In other words if a loco goes to far it will automatically cut out before it runs off the track. The layout is fitted with PECO Point motors for eased exhibition running. Layout lighting will be an eventual thing but for the time being this tiny town will be left in darkness at night.
